Milestones after more than 80 years in business:

  • 1941 - Laminación y Derivados (Layde) is established during Spain's great industrial boom.
  • 1990 - British Steel main Steel mill in the UK, acquires 34% of Layde shares in response to its international expansion strategy.
  • 1999 - British Steel acquires 100% of Layde shares and becomes the owner.
  • 1999 - British Steel & the Dutch Koninklijke Hoogovens merge, and Corus Group is founded becoming Layde’s owner.
  • 2007 - Tata Group acquires Corus Group which becomes part of Tata Steel, changing its name to Tata Steel Europe.
  • 2021 - Tata Steel Europe is split into two entities: Tata Steel UK and Tata Steel Nederland. Layde is now part of the second one.

Layde occupies a 70,000 m2 site, with a 40.000 m2 building.
